This article discusses the applications of remote sensing data in environment and energy studies in architecture and urbanism. In this work was studied the area of the Trianon Park, located on Avenida Paulista, in Sao Paulo. The objective is to verify if there is a correspondence and proximity between remote sensing data and measurements on the ground to investigate the possibility of using images generated by remote measurements in environment and energy research within the urban context in small and large scales. In this research, images of Landsat 7 and Landsat 8 thermal bands were used and analyzed with and without atmospheric correction. Therefore, both were compared with the surface temperatures obtained by the thermographic camera Fliri40 near the ground in the same area imaged by the satellite. By comparing the results, it was found that remote measurements with atmospheric correction were more similar to the results near the ground compared with measurements without atmospheric correction. The thermal differences between the results show that the remote sensing is a reliable measuring technique to obtain a database of small or large areas not only for urban planning, as well other applications in architecture and urbanism, specially concerning environment and energy issues.
